The two apparently changed the banking details of one of Kareeberg Municipality’s clients and allegedly pocketed the money.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation is searching for two persons who can assist in a fraud and forgery investigation.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said Kareeberg Municipality in Carnarvon entered into a contract with Raubex Group Ltd.

“It is alleged that during 2018, the municipality received an email believed to have been sent by Raubex Group, providing new banking details of which over R700 000 was paid to them. It is further alleged that Raubex group enquired about their money but only to be told that it has been paid already.
