THE SOUTH African Police Service (SAPS) management in the Northern Cape has expressed satisfaction with the recent sentences handed down by the Keimoes Regional Court to two women convicted of murdering their boyfriends in separate incidents.

According to Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergenat Omphile Masegela, the convictions followed thorough investigations by Sergeant Piet Eiman and Constable Eshley Jonkers of the Keimoes Detectives.

Sergenat Masegela said that 29-year-old Nadia Schwartz from Currieskamp was convicted of the murder of Floors Nell, 28.

On December 30, 2023, the Keimoes police responded to a murder scene where Nell had been fatally stabbed in the chest during an altercation with Schwartz over alcohol and money. Schwartz was arrested at the scene and later released on bail. On August 8, 2024, she was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with two years suspended for five years.

In a separate case, Annolize Beukes, 21, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of her boyfriend, Danwil Swartz, 29.

The court heard that on October 23, 2022, Beukes stabbed Swartz to death during an argument. She was arrested and pleaded guilty to the charge of murder.

Sergenat Masegela said that these sentences highlight the commitment of Northern Cape detectives to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
