TWO SUSPECTS were arrested by the Prieska police, in partnership with the local Community Policing Forum (CPF), for allegedly stealing goods from Prieska High School on Saturday.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said information received from the CPF led to the arrest of the suspects.
“The police followed up on the information from the CPF about the suspects who were allegedly selling stolen goods. The police operationalised the information and approached the suspects. The police confiscated a black mini-projector valued at R4,500 and a white projector with its remote, a charger, a white Bluetooth speaker and a bag valued at approximately R10,500. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the items were stolen from Prieska High School,” said Sam.
“One of the suspects is being investigated for being involved in a previous separate burglary. The suspects are expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court soon on charges of business burglary and possession of suspected stolen property.”
Sam added that the CPF and police members were applauded for the arrests.
“The district commissioner of Pixley ka Seme, Major-General Nomanda Mtukushe, lauded the team for the “meticulous and professional execution of the information that led to the arrests and the recovery of the suspected stolen property”.
Mtukushe added that schools mirror the community and curbing burglaries as well as school infrastructure crimes is a priority for the police.
“The police will leave no stone unturned to ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to book,” he said.
