TWO MALAWIAN nationals were arrested in connection with a business robbery that took place at a retail store in Kuruman during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said a multi-disciplinary team traced the suspects and found them unpacking the stolen cargo at a house in Seoding village near Kuruman.
“The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects gained entrance to the retail store through the roof and grinded open the safes during the early hours of August 9.”
Tawana said goods to the value of more than R600,000, including cellphones, laptops, clothing and shoes, were stolen as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
“The team seized the NP200 bakkie believed to have been instrumental in the commission of the crime.”
Tawana stated that the two suspects, aged 27 and 32 years, were expected to appear in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of business robbery.
The acting deputy provincial commissioner for Crime Detection, Brigadier Nicky Mills, commended the team for their investigative work that led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen goods.
“The investigation continues,” Tawana added.
