TWO MEN, aged 21 and 22, were arrested and charged for possession of tik with an estimated street value of R14,850. They are expected to appear in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court soon.

The men were arrested on Wednesday by members of Prieska Vispol A relief, who also impounded a Polo vehicle, which was allegedly used to commit the crime.

Three cellphones were also confiscated during the arrest.

The arrests were made during patrols following a tipoff regarding drugs that were being transported from De Aar to Prieska in a silver Volkswagen Polo Cross.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Mashay Gamieldien, indicated that patrols were conducted in the Prieska area in search of the vehicle.

“They later spotted the vehicle in Alfa Street. The vehicle was stopped and searched. One of the occupants was found in possession of TIK in a transparent plastic bag while a second bag was found inside the vehicle.”

The Prieska Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Rendani Ndou, commended the members for their vigilance in tracking the vehicle and executing the arrests.
