The Galeshewe police are investigating a case of contravention of court order and kidnapping after twin baby girls were taken from their grandmother on May 6.

THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family, Child and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating a case of contravention of court order and kidnapping after twin baby girls were taken from their grandmother on May 6.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said on Thursday that according to a court order the twins were placed in their grandmother’s care.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the mother of the twins took them from their grandmother to withdraw her pension money and never returned home,” said Sam.

“The suspect, who is the biological mother of the twins, is believed to be mentally challenged.”

The police have requested the public to contact the Galeshewe FCS commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Marli Strydom, on 082 495 0618 or 0860 10111 or via the MySAPS app if they are able to assist with the investigation.

“All information will be treated confidentially,” Sam added.
