TRIBUTES have poured in for former Member of the Northern Cape Legislature, Nkosamandaba John Galela, who died recently.

Galela was at the time of his death the ANC caucus manager.

ANC Provincial secretary, Deshi Ngxanga, said on Monday that the party was overcome with a deep sense of sadness on the sudden passing of Galela.

“We have lost a visionary leader, an epitome of wisdom and a constant reminder of selflessness. He embodied goodness, humbleness, honor and compassion,” Ngxanga said.

He pointed out that Galela had served as a former organiser of the National Union of Mineworkers. “He was dismissed at Black Rock mine during the brutal aparthied regime.”

“He was also a former member of legislature and ANC PEC member in Northern Cape. He was currently serving as a caucus manager of the ANC at legislature.”

Ngxanga added that Galela’s commitment to the struggle was discernible as he served the movement with distinction.

“He was totally committed to our people and served them with distinction. He was a dedicated Christian and a pastor and he did not allow pride, vanity and ego to cloud his judgment.

“We dip our black, green and gold banner in honour of this gallant fighter and revolutionary. We extend condolences to the family and friends of comrade Galela. We have indeed lost a humble servant of the masses.”

The Northern Cape Provincial Legislature also paid tribute to Galela.

“The Northern Cape Provincial Legislature is saddened by the passing of former MPL, Galela.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”
