TWO KIMBERLEY musicians who achieved distinctions for their outstanding performances during the 2024 Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations will perform at a concert that will be held at the St Michael’s School for Girls chapel in Bloemfontein on Sunday, November 3, at 3pm.
ABRSM regional co-ordinator Bridget Harrison said the celebratory concert would allow music students who were awarded high-scoring distinctions in the Free State, Northern Cape, and Lesotho to showcase their talents.
“The programme includes a variety of instruments – from violin to cello and voice to piano – and represents performers from music Grades 1 to 8,” said Harrison.
She added that Grade 5 cellist Júan Krüger, who was taught by Amy van Rooi, and Grade 5 trumpet player Albert Hamman, who was trained by Lester Jonas, would participate in the programme.
Harrison said that both pupils attended Diamantveld High School in Kimberley.
“ABRSM is a global leader in setting the standard for learning music and has held exams in South Africa for 128 years. These concerts are a culmination of everyone’s committed hard work coming together in the musical performances.
“Performances will be heard from a number of highly talented musicians who epitomise the quality of musicianship associated with the achievement of the ABRSM assessments. However, these concerts are firstly a tribute to the hard work of performers as well as the support and guidance shown by teachers and parents,” she said.
