A TUCKSHOP owner was subjected to an armed robbery in Transit camp in Phutanang last week where he was allegedly held up by two suspects who were armed with a knife and a gun.

Items including R3,000 cash as well as two cellphones were stolen on April 26.

The owner claimed that the police were reluctant to open a case as he is a foreign national.

Sergeant Timothy Sam said the Kagisho police opened a case of business robbery on April 28, following an alleged robbery of a tuckshop owner in Transit Camp, Phuthanang.

“The case has since been transferred to the Organised Crime Investigations unit (trio crimes) due to the nature of the case.”

He added that three suspects were arrested and briefly appeared in the Galeshewe magistrate’s court on Tuesday, May 3.

“They were remanded in custody until their next court appearance to be determined soon. Police investigations continue.”
