THREE suspects are expected to appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of illegal hunting after they were found in possession of meat valued at R15,000 as well as knives, an axe and a bag.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said that sergeants Sidimo and Seleka from the Kimberley Crime Prevention unit arrested the suspects, who are aged 20, 22 and 30, on August 24 at Marrick Safari game farm on the Douglas road.
“The police members were conducting crime-prevention duties when they received a complaint of unknown men slaughtering an animal,” said Gopane.
She stated that the meat was believed to have been that of a cow.
“The suspects were arrested and detained for illegal hunting and will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.”
