MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

Johan du Plessis

TODAY marks the beginning of a new and exciting era for the Diamond Fields Advertiser. After serving the people of Kimberley and the Northern Cape for 144 years, we are excited to announce an innovative change in how we deliver the news to the people of our beloved city and Province.

We will bring you “The Best of Both Worlds”.

The Covid 19 pandemic reduced print publication to Fridays only with a focussed shift to DFA’s digital platform (www.dfa.co.za). The newspaper’s website has shown considerable growth and has attracted more than 3 million users since launch.

Today, May 6, 2022, the DFA will be available free of charge across the Kimberley area and in selected towns in the Northern Cape.

Every Friday we will deliver 40,000 copies of your favourite title and distribute these to selected points across Kimberley. These include supermarkets, fuel stations, shopping centres, government buildings and institutions, among others.

Your newspaper will be available at Kimberley’s major intersections on Friday mornings with a dedicated team distributing copies to motorists. The DFA will continue to be delivered directly to the homes of subscribers.

Copies of the Friday edition will also be available in Ritchie, Barkly West and Douglas with plans to expand the print edition’s footprint across the Province..

Content will be hyper local with a key focus on in depth community news.

In addition, the DFA’s website will continue to take the lead in the digital world with breaking news and daily updates . . . seven days a week. Our website will continue to bring online readers local breaking news, local updates, the latest national and international news, sport, features and opinion pieces.

Our recent move to the North Cape Mall, after the sale of the DFA building, will create ease of access to our readers and advertisers who wish to engage with us directly. We are delighted that the sale of the DFA building has created additional investment in Kimberley providing accommodation for our students.

The new DFA will continue to fight for and be the voice of the people of the Northern Cape. And we invite you, the loyal readers and advertisers of the DFA, to join us on this new and exciting journey.

As the world changes and pivots post pandemic we thank you, our readers and advertisers, the people of Kimberley and the Northern Cape, for your support over 144 years.

History has made us who we are, and the future is ours and yours.
