A COMPETITIVE bidder intends to apply for an interdict to prevent the Frances Baard District Municipality HIV/Aids benefit concert from going ahead, as it is questioning the appointment of the successful events management company.
The director of Africa Media Connection, Kgomotso Modiragale, requested the Frances Baard District Municipality to review the appointment for the event that is expected to be held in Kimberley next month.
He stated that his company submitted the second-lowest bid, while the appointed company’s bid amounted to R1 million.
“I had already booked the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre as we were touted as the frontrunners to be selected for the bid. I am prepared to go to the highest court to fight this matter,” said Modiragale.
Frances Baard District Municipality spokesperson Gerline Roman confirmed receipt of an objection from Africa Media Connection this week.
“The district municipality received a letter of appeal/review from Africa Media Connection on November 19, regarding the bid on the HIV/AIDS benefit concert. We are expected to respond by November 26 and will not make any disclosures at this point as it will be premature.
“The supply chain management processes allow for complaints to be raised,” Roman stated.
