A cold snap is expected on Friday and temperatures are predicted to reach a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius and a high of 13 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 3 degrees Celsius, with a maximum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Temperatures will rise from next week, where daytime temperatures will reach the low 20s during the day.

Farming communities have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect their livestock against cold weather, with snowfall predicted for parts of the country.

Sutherland is expected to reach chilly temperatures of -3 degrees Celsius on Friday, with a high of 11 degrees Celsius.

A high fire danger has been issued over Namakwa, Kamiesberg, Garies, Hantam, Calvinia, Khai-Mai, Pofadder, Karoo Hoogland and Sutherland.
