A 19-YEAR-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R4,300.

Police spokesperson Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said members from the Upington Highway Patrol unit were conducting patrols on September 8 at 7.55am on the road between Upington and Rietfontein when they noticed a man sitting next to the road with a travel bag.

“Sergeant Charlto Andrews and Constable Chevee Niewenhuisen stopped and searched the man and discovered four concealed plastic bags containing dagga in the travel bag. The estimated street value of the dagga is R4,300,” said Gamieldien.

She added that the suspect was arrested and charged with possession of dagga.
