A 19-year-old man was saved from drowning after he jumped into a water reservoir in Delportshoop.
A 19-YEAR-old man was saved from drowning after he jumped into a water reservoir in Delportshoop on March 20.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the Northern Cape SAPS Search and Rescue team responded to the incident on Monday evening, at about 6.30pm.
“A security guard on the premises spotted the man’s clothes and other belongings and contacted the police. The man was clinging onto a pole,” said Kock.
He added that the provincial commander of the Search and Rescue team, Captain John Seeley, travelled from Kimberley and executed the rescue with the help of his team.
“Captain Seeley saved the man, who although traumatised, was unharmed and had no visible injuries.
“The SAPS management thanked Captain Seeley and the Search and Rescue team for their bravery and the swift response that resulted in the saving of the man’s life,” Kock added.
