THE PHOKWANE Action For Development organisation has reiterated its demand for the removal of an educator at Jan Kempdorp Primary School who allegedly sexually harassed a Grade 7 pupil.

The chairperson of Phokwane Action For Development, Lebogang Banyatsi, called for the teacher to be placed on immediate suspension.

“We don’t want any more meetings with the police, school governing body or district officials,” said Banyatsi.

It is alleged that the teacher instructed the girl to kiss him and fondle his private parts.

Northern Cape Department of Education spokesperson Geoffrey van der Merve said that the teacher was absent from school on Friday and Monday.

“He will be served with a preliminary precautionary suspension notice on Tuesday. This will allow the department to conduct a credible investigation without interference. The implicated educator will remain on preliminary precautionary suspension until the investigation is concluded,” said Van der Merwe.

He added that the district manager had addressed parents at the school on Monday.

“Schooling was not interrupted.”
