Suspected wanted for attacking Western Cape couple with a panga arrested in Northern Cape

A suspect wanted for attack on a murder and attempted murder in the Western Cape has been arrested in Danielskuil.

A 45-year-old suspect wanted for murder, attempted murder and house breaking in Delft in the Western Cape was arrested during the early hours of Friday morning in Danielskuil.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the suspect allegedly hacked the couple with a panga.

“It is alleged that during the early hours of September 1, the suspect broke into a house in Delft and hacked a couple with a panga. The husband died while his wife is in a critical condition in hospital. The suspect fled the scene to the Northern Cape.”

He said sergeants Bradley Lemmetjies and Feroza Adams of the Northern Cape SAPS Tracking Team and reservist Sergeant Jim Williams from the Delportshoop SAPS followed up on information and searched several houses in Danielskuil.

“The head of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Nicky Mills activated the tracking team which led to the successful tracing of the suspect.

“The suspect was found hiding at a house in Sloya in Danielskuil and was arrested.”
