Suspected stolen diesel stashed in a toilet

A significant amount of suspected stolen diesel with an estimated value of R7 000 was confiscated by members of Operation Vala Umgodi in Frances Baard District at a house in Samora Machel in Phuthanang in Kimberley on Thursday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson, Sergeant Merapelo Pilane said the diesel was recovered during an intelligence driven operation.

“Members of both proactive and combat teams received information on November 7, regarding diesel that was allegedly being stored and sold at a house in Samora Machel Street.

“A large amount of diesel was found stored in 25 litre containers that were hidden in an unused toilet. No satisfactory explanation was given to with regards to its ownership. Large quantities of suspected stolen diesel estimated at R7 000 was confiscated and an enquiry was opened for further investigation,” said Pilane.

Piane urged the community to report any suspected criminal behaviour to authorities.

“Members of the community are encouraged to report any suspicious criminal activities through the MySAPS App or on 10111 crime stop number,” he concluded.
