A 60-YEAR-old suspect is expected to make a brief appearance in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court for allegedly dealing in drugs.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday after information was received by the Nababeep Crime Prevention unit regarding a suspect allegedly transporting drugs from Cape Town to Springbok in a taxi.

Hawks Northern Cape provincial spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said a disruptive operation was immediately launched and the taxi was intercepted on its arrival in Okiep.

“Mandrax tablets and dagga with an estimated street value of R49,500 were confiscated during the search,” said Mnisi.

Mnisi added that the case was then transferred to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for further probing.
