A SUSPECT was arrested on a charge of dealing drugs after a “suspicious” parcel was collected from a courier service in Fraserburg on Wednesday, June 1.

Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the Fraserburg police followed up on information regarding a parcel, suspected to contain drugs, that was to be collected from a local store in town at around 12.10pm.

“The police tracked down the suspect at his residence, where they found him in possession of crystal meth, cocaine, mandrax tablets and mandrax powder,” said Tawana.

He added that the suspect was also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

“A 48-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.”

The acting district commander of the Namakwa District, Colonel Skalk Andrews, warned drug dealers that the police would continue unabated to clamp down on their activities.
