Suspect arrested for theft from civic centre hall in Squarehill Park

A suspect was arrested on Thursday afternoon after he removed the sheeting from the roof of the civic centre Hall in Squarehill Park.

A SUSPECT was arrested on Thursday afternoon after he allegedly removed the sheeting from the roof of the civic centre hall in Squarehill Park.

Spokesperson for Sol Plaatje Municipality Sello Matsie said additional security had been stationed at the facility as the hall and the library was subjected to burglaries on an “industrial scale”.

He indicated that thieves had started removing the roof sheeting of the hall.

“The theft of our infrastructure is happening at an accelerated phase and we call on the law enforcement agencies to deal harshly with the culprits.”
