“The senior managers were at the forefront of the operations that netted eight suspects. The six men and two women were arrested in Jan Kempdorp, Hartswater and Kimberley with the assistance of Kimberley Public Order Policing unit, the K9 unit and members from the SAPS Legal Services.”

He added that the police confiscated an array of items, including generators, grinders, electrical drills, a pellet gun, flat screen televisions, a bicycle, meat saws, blowers and tyres with an approximate value of R85,000.

“The suspects who are aged between 27 and 73 will appear in the Hartswater and Jan Kempdorp magistrates courts on charges of dealing in stolen property and theft.”

Major General Lekhele commended the members for a well executed operation and also thanked the community for their assistance in this regard.

“The purchasing of stolen goods is a serious offence and police will ensure that markets for these activities are shut down during the coming Easter weekend and beyond,” he added.
