Stern warning for park drinkers

Police will have a high visibility at the park to curb any criminal incidents.

THE KURUMAN police have vowed to take stern action against possible criminal activity and alcohol abuse that might occur at Leach Park this festive season.

Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mosimaneotsile Letsapa said police will have a high visibility at the park to curb any criminal incidents.

“In an effort in ensuring that law and order is maintained, the Kuruman police have heightened police visibility at Leach Park, which is one of the hotspots in the area. Police will be operating from the mobile Community Service Centre in an effort to clamp down and curb crime occurring in and around the vicinity of the park,” said Letsapa.

He warned residents that those found to be breaking the law, will be prosecuted.

“A stern warning is issued to members of the public not to drink liquor or consume alcohol in the park during the festive season. The Acting District Commander of John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG ) Brigadier Johnny Besnaar had issued a stern warning to the residents that failure to comply with the law, will lead to arrest and prosecution. The police will be adopting a zero tolerance approach this Festive season and beyond,” he said.
