A 23-year-old Northern Cape man was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his three-year-old stepson.
A 23-YEAR-old Northern Cape stepfather was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his three-year-old stepson.
The incident took place in De Aar on July 25, 2022, when the accused, Lorenzo Henzel Lawak, stabbed and killed his stepson, Jayzino Justin Brouers.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said Lawak refused to allow the boy’s mother to collect her clothes from his house on July 25, 2022.
“On the same day, the accused invited the deceased to his house, where his lifeless body was later discovered with multiple stab wounds on his body,” said Sam.
“The accused was arrested immediately and he was denied bail.”
The Pixley ka Seme district commissioner, Major-General Nomanda Mtukushe, praised the investigating officer in the matter, Sergeant Fezile Mdube, “for ensuring that violent behaviour involving children was dealt with harshly”.
