KONKOONSIES Solar Power donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Pofadder Community Health Centre, Pofadder Clinic, Onseepkans Clinic and Pella Clinic to assist in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Medical tape, 373 bottles of hand sanitisers, 8 000 surgical masks, 5 000 gauze swabs and infrared non-contact thermometers were handed over to the Department of Health offices in the Namakwa District for distribution at health centres and clinics.

The health director of the Namakwa District Municipality, Dina Beukes, said the PPE was used to conduct 11 020 screenings in the district between April 29 and May 15.

Tsholofelo Moote, economic development practitioner at Konkoonsies Solar Power, said that the Covid-19 outbreak constituted a public health emergency.

“We will not be able to fight the pandemic without our front-line health care professionals using the proper personal protection and equipment,” Moote pointed out.
