RESIDENTS in Kimberley are urged to make adequate preparations as another three-day water interruption is scheduled for residents in the Sol Plaatje Municipality from June 24 ending on June 26, 2021.

Sol Plaatje Municipality spokesperson, Sello Matsie said the aim of the planned water shutdown is to enhance security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

“Residents of the city are advised of a planned water supply interruption for the entire city from Thursday night, June 24 until Saturday night, June 26,2021. Please note that to enable the various teams to conduct these repairs and replacing air valves on the bulk supply line, this will result in supply interruption. We humbly request the community to keep adequate water for use during this period,” said Matsie.

Matsie said water tankers will be supplied during the course.

“As part of our contingency preparations, several water tankers and Jojo tanks will be provided to the different wards.

“Businesses, schools and hospitals are requested to similarly ensure adequate supply.

“The municipality will provide regular updates on progress.

“The levels at Newton Reservoir will be kept at maximum to ensure supply is restored after the work is complete. The upcoming inconvenience is regrettable,” he said.
