Municipal spokesperson Thoko Riet said that load shedding has resulted in a drop in water levels at Newton Reservoir.
“We are facing serious problems with the Eskom load shedding. The high lift pump trips continuously and the Newton Reservoir water levels are also dropping due to load shedding. Therefore, nightly water shutdowns will be implemented from tonight, June 28, 2022, from 8pm until 5am the next day. This will continue until water levels have improved,” Riet said.
