THE NORTHERN Cape Society for the Blind (NCSB) will host a “Dine as a Blind” fund-raising event on July 26 at Elizabeth Conradie School in Kimberley.

The chairperson of the NCSB, Desiree Brockbank, said a three-course meal will be served while diners will be able to experience various eye conditions through the use of goggles.

“‘Dine as a Blind’ will allow you to know what it’s like to have a specific eye condition that forces you to heighten your other senses such as smell, taste, feel and hearing,” explained Brockbank.

“With these goggles, you will know what’s it like to experience a meal like a person living with glaucoma, severe cataracts, retinitis pigmentosa, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, tunnel vision and complete blindness.”

Brockbank said the meals would be prepared by Elizabeth Conradie School.
