The Delportshoop police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after seven people were killed in a head-on collision between a taxi and a truck on the R31 on Sunday.

SEVEN people died following a head-on collision between a taxi and a truck on the R31 on Sunday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the Delportshoop police were investigating a case of culpable homicide.

“The accident happened at approximately 2pm on Sunday. It is alleged that the bus was travelling in the direction of Ulco while the taxi was travelling in the direction of Kimberley. Seven people lost their lives as a result of the impact of the collision. The injured persons were transported to hospital for medical treatment,” said Tawana.

“The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. The identities of the deceased are not yet known. The investigation continues.”
