The police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of Klaas Small in Breipaal, Douglas.
THE SAPS Provincial Organised Crime Detectives have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of Klaas Small in Breipaal, Douglas.
Small’s murder is allegedly connected to insurance fraud.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the second suspect, aged 49, was arrested on Wednesday after the police followed up on information received.
Kock said that the first suspect linked to the incident had already appeared in court.
“The first suspect, Melton Mohemo, 27, was arrested on September 29, 2021 at about 1.30pm, at his house in Breipaal. He has appeared in the Douglas Magistrate’s Court. The matter was postponed to October 18, 2021 for a formal bail application. The second suspect is scheduled to appear in the Douglas Magistrate’s Court on October 15, 2021.”
Kock said that Small’s body was discovered in a ditch in Breipaal by a passer-by.
“On January 27, 2021 the body of the deceased was discovered by a passer-by in a ditch in Breipaal in Douglas. It is alleged that the murder could be connected to insurance fraud and more arrests could follow. The investigation continues.”
