Only a small number of Grade R and Grade 1 pupils still needed placement
THE NORTHERN Cape Department of Education has assured parents of school pupils still waiting for placement that their children will be in class and receiving learning by today.
According to department spokesperson Lehuma Ntuane the matter of placement was finalised on Friday and only a small number of Grade R and Grade 1 pupils still needed placement.
Ntuane added that the department had informed parents of Grade R pupils to enrol them at community-based centres.
“We do not have any space at schools for Grade R pupils. We have finalised all other grades, like Grade 1 and Grade 8. The only challenge we had was of parents who came to seek placement last week Monday. However, all cases have been finalised,” said Ntuane.
A total of 250 Grade 1 and Grade 8 pupils were not yet placed in any school by last week Monday.
