KIMBERLEY resident Tshepang Mabogo is on the path to achieving her dream of obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering, thanks to a Matla A Bokone Solar scholarship.

Her passion for mathematics has driven her to continue her academic journey after graduating with a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

The scholarship, which has supported Mabogo since 2022, aims to empower students from various communities, including Riverton, Barkly West, Kimberley Central, Boshof, Delportshoop, Galeshewe, Greenpoint, Holpan, Platfontein, Ritchie, Roodepan and Windsorton. Specifically targeting learners within a 50km radius of the solar plant, the programme provides essential financial and academic resources to further their education.

Currently in her third year at the Central University of Technology (CUT), Mabogo expressed her enthusiasm for engineering.

She explained that she has always wanted her work to produce something tangible and have real-life applications.

“Engineering seemed like the best way to combine the fundamentally logical and analytical aspects of mathematics I loved while maintaining a firm grasp on reality and real-life solutions,” she said.

The scholarship has not only eased her financial burden but also fueled her determination to achieve her dreams.

“Receiving this bursary has been the best thing,” Mabogo emphasised. “Not only has it assisted me financially, but it has also helped me see my potential and bring me closer to achieving my dreams.”

Looking ahead, Mabogo is focused on completing her degree and securing a stable job where she can continue to assist and inspire those around her.

The community liaison officer for Matla A Bokone Solar, Lesego Mosiane, expressed pride in Mabogo’s accomplishments and her unwavering dedication towards her studies.

“Her success is a shining example of the positive impact our programme has on the lives of young individuals in our community. We remain committed to supporting her and other students as they strive to achieve their dreams,” said Mosiane.

She explained that the comprehensive support provided by the scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, stationery, stipends, textbooks, a laptop, administration fees, disbursement costs, and wrap-around support.

“This extensive assistance ensures that students like Mabogo can focus on their studies and achieve their full potential.”

With the sky as her limit, Mabogo continues to excel in her studies, driven by her passion and the support of the Matla A Bokone Solar scholarship.
