The presence of Sapo at some local Sassa offices had assisted beneficiaries with their applications for Postbank Mzansi accounts
A NUMBER of South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) offices are currently experiencing challenges with the completion of grant applications.
Sassa confirmed yesterday that the enrolment of applicants was not taking place, resulting in challenges with the completion of grant applications.
The provincial spokesperson of Sassa, Inno Khonou, explained that the enrolment of applicants formed part of the grant application process. She gave the assurance that the agency was currently attending to the matter.
“The regional management and staff are in continuous discussions to ensure that the enrolment process runs smoothly prior to the new Sassa and South African Post Office (Sapo) payment card issuance, which is due to be piloted in Ga-Segonyana in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District next week,” Khonou said.
She added that the presence of Sapo at some local Sassa offices had assisted beneficiaries with their applications for Postbank Mzansi accounts.
“This is a one-stop preference and convenience service offered to our beneficiaries as a payment option. Beneficiaries may also choose to use their private or other banking services. This part of the transition is continuing well,” said Khunou.
