SAPS members in the ZF Mgcawu District recently enjoyed a “fun day” after two years of little to no sporting activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Upington SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said a 3.5-kilometre fun walk was held at the Dicky Jacobs Stadium on September 9, while all stations and units took part in soccer, netball, volleyball, tug-of-war, relay races and track games.

“A moment of silence was observed, with a candle-lighting ceremony while balloons were released into the air, in remembrance of colleagues who died during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Masegela added that the overall winner was the Rosedale SAPS, followed by the Kakamas, Keimoes, Kenhardt and Augrabies SAPS, the district office and the Upington Public Order Police.
