SAPS investigating two rapes in the city

The Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) are investigating the rape of a 25-year-old woman where her attacker apparently threatened to unleash a dog on her.

THE Galeshewe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) are investigating the rape of a 25-year-old woman where her attacker apparently threatened to unleash a dog on her.

Sergeant Timothy Sam said the incident took place at the back of Club Vibes in Madalane Street, in Galeshewe on July 24.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that an unknown male suspect approached the woman and threatened to set the dog on her.”

He added that the woman complied as she was afraid of the dog.

“The suspect is light of complexion, of slender build with gold teeth in his mouth and speaks Afrikaans.”

Sam requested anyone with information that may lead to the apprehension and arrest of the suspect and the investigation of the case to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Tanya Serfontein on 084 446 6918 or 08600 10111 or via the MYSAPS App.

“All information will be treated confidentially,” he added.

The Galeshewe FCS Unit are also investigating a rape case involving an 18-year-old woman that took place in Starling Street in Roodepan on August 10.

Sam stated that an unknown male suspect approached the complainant in the street while she was waiting for a taxi.

“He forcefully grabbed her by the wrist and instructed her to go with him to the stairway of one of the flats and threatened her with a firearm.

“The victim was raped until she was rescued by a ‘friend’ of the suspect.”

He added that the suspect was a white male, light of complexion, slender to medium build, black hair with a moustache and a beard.

“He is a heavy smoker and speaks Afrikaans.”

The police have requested the public to assist with any information that may lead to the apprehension and arrest of the suspect and the investigation of the case.
