A TOTAL of 150 Grade 6 and 7 pupils in Hanover were educated about the dangers of sexual abuse and cyberbullying when the De Aar police hosted a Child Protection Month event.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said that Thursday’s event was held under the theme “Let us all protect our children during Covid-19 and beyond”.

The campaign was supported by the Department of Justice.

“The pupils were informed about different types of bullying and sexual offences and about how to be safe. The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit will host similar events throughout the Province, which will create awareness about children’s rights and gender-based violence perpetrated against vulnerable persons,” said Kock.
