Roodepan flats shooter to apply for bail

THE ACCUSED who was arrested in connection with a shooting that took place at Alice Court at the Roodepan flats on February 27, is expected to apply for bail next week.

A man was shot multiple times while the police were attending to another stabbing that took place on the same night at the Roodepan flats, in what has been described as a gang related incident.

Another suspect was arrested by the Roodepan police in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 30 year old man at Alice Court at the Roodepan flats.

He was found lying in a pool of blood on February 27.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said the two incidents were not related.

“One suspect was arrested for attempted murder for shooting the victim multiple times. The suspect appeared in the Kimberley Magistrates Court. The case was remanded for a formal bail application on March 10. The incident is gang related.”

He indicated that the person who was shot was still recovering in hospital.

“The Directorate for Priority Crimes Investigation serious organised crimes in Kimberley is investigating a case of attempted murder,” Thebe said.
