RITCHIE Residents have been advised to fill up their water containers in advance as there will be a planned water shutdown in the area from next week Friday, November 30 until Sunday, Dec ember 2.

Sol Plaatje Municipality spokesperson Sello Matsie said the shutdown forms part of the major ongoing work related to the upgrading of bulk water supply for the area.

“The work that will be performed entails the installation of electrical work for the new pump station and the connection of water mains to newly constructed elevated tanks. The work to be performed will benefit the community in terms of water supply security and improved access,” said Matsie yesterday.

He added that the municipality has made provision for alternative water supply mechanisms during the shutdown period.

“There will be JoJo Tanks situated at various points in the community where residents will be able to get water. Residents are encouraged to use water sparingly and we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
