No rain is forecast for Kimberley for the remainder of this week however, while the temperature is expected to peak in the high thirties.
WHILE the city has experienced some welcome rain over the past few days, residents have been warned to brace themselves for a few days of intense heat.
According to the South African Weather Service, 9mm of rain fell in the city on Sunday. The only other town to record rain on Sunday was Postmasburg with 5mm.

Today’s expected maximum is 35 degrees Celsius, falling to a low of 16 degrees C overnight. It will be a warm back-to-school for city pupils tomorrow when the temperature will climb to 36 degrees C.
On Thursday, it will peak at 38 degrees C and on Friday the maximum will be 39 degrees C.
On Saturday, however, the temperature is expected to drop to 34 degrees C and by Sunday to 30 degrees C.
In Upington, the maximum temperature yesterday was 40 degrees C and today a maximum of 42 degrees C is expected. By tomorrow this is expected to climb to 43 degrees C and to 44 degrees C on Thursday. An expected maximum of 41 degrees is predicted for Friday, dropping to 35 degrees C on Saturday.
Several other towns, including Prieska, are also expected to exceed the 40 degree C mark this week.
The Weather Office issued a warning yesterday of veld fire conditions in the central parts of the Province.
