THE CASE of an alleged bogus medical doctor, Ilunga Kalasa, who is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl at a practice in Kimberley where he was employed, has been postponed until October 26.

Kalasa, 38, appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

It is alleged that Kalasa raped the teenager on August 15 when she went to the practice for a medical examination.

During a previous appearance, the court heard that Kalasa was also facing a charge of sexual assault for a similar incident that allegedly occurred on April 20, where Kalasa is accused of sexually assaulting a 25-year-old woman during a medical examination.

The prosecution, during Kalasa’s bail application, requested that the sexual assault case be added to the rape case and that Kalasa stand trial for both matters jointly.

Kalasa will remain in custody until his next court appearance on October 26.
