More unions join National Health Laboratory Service strike
THE PUBLIC Servants Association (PSA) was due to join other recognised trade unions in the National Health Laboratory Service on a strike today.
The mass action is in support of workers’ demands for improvements to their salaries and conditions of service.
“As organised labour, we have made it clear to the employer what the workers demand,” said PSA deputy general manager Tahir Maepa.
“What has aggravated the workers even further is the failure to fully implement certain important clauses of the 2016/2017 wage agreement.”
National Health Education, Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) announced it had served NHLS with a seven-day notice to embark on a protected strike.
This is in addition to a certificate to strike granted to the PSA by the CCMA after conciliation on the wage dispute failed.
