The Prieska SAPS Crime Prevention unit arrested a 36-year-old Nigerian national for drug possession and seized mandrax tablets, cocaine and crystal meth with an estimated street value of R68,490.
THE PRIESKA SAPS Crime Prevention unit apprehended a 36-year-old Nigerian national for possession of drugs on April 17.
The arrest took place after the police followed up on a tip-off about an apparent drug delivery at a residence in Madiba Square, Prieska.
Upon receiving the information, the unit members promptly responded and arrived at the premises, where they requested permission to search the residence.
The suspect granted permission for a search, which led to the discovery of an assortment of drugs. The team seized mandrax tablets, cocaine and crystal meth (tik) with an estimated street value of R68,490.
The suspect was arrested and now faces charges related to drug possession. He is expected to make an appearance in the Prieska Magistrate’s Court soon.
The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola, commended the public for reporting criminal activity to the police.
She also praised the Prieska Crime Prevention unit members for their swift and effective response.
