Police seize dagga worth over R850k in raid, suspect arrested

THE POLICE in the ZF Mgcawu (ZFM) District successfully conducted an operation in Upington leading to the seizure of dagga with an estimated street value of approximately R852,500.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said the operation was a collaborative effort involving members of the Upington Border Police, Upington K9 unit and the ZFM Highway Patrol.

Acting on a tip-off received on June 13 about suspected drug activities at a local premises in Upington, the police teams swiftly co-ordinated to execute a search warrant. The search led to the discovery and confiscation of the substantial quantity of dagga.

A 34-year-old male suspect was taken into custody on charges of dealing in dagga. He is scheduled for a court appearance in the near future as the police continue their relentless efforts to combat drug distribution in the district.
