THE NORTHERN Cape Murder and Robbery unit is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying two suspects who were involved in a robbery at a prominent jewellery store in Kimberley on July 18.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said the two suspects formed part of a group of four men who held the staff at the jewellery store at gunpoint and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that four male assailants entered the store, closed the door, instructed staff at gunpoint to move to the back of the store where they were held by two of the assailants whilst the other two placed all the jewellery on the shelves in bags.
“The suspects then fled the store and allegedly got into a getaway vehicle that had two occupants who fired a shot in the direction of security personnel who were pursuing them. A pillar post was hit in the event. The suspects then drove off in a white Toyota Etios with covered registration number plates,” said Sam.
“Anyone who may have any information on the suspects can contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Beulah Williams, on 071 686 1182 or 08600 10111 or either SMS anonymously to 32211 or use the MySAPS app. All information received will be treated as confidential.”
