FIVE job applicants who submitted their curriculum vitaes (CV’s) to the SAPS were arrested for allegedly submitting fraudulent Grade 12 certificates.

Brigadier Mashay Gamieldien said the posts were advertised during 2021/’22.

“The five accused including two females and three males were arrested and the suspects appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s court on March 7.”

She indicated that members of the Provincial Human Resource Management Recruitment section scrutinised the authenticity of the documents and approached the Department of Education and Umalusi to validate the certificates presented to them.

“This led to the investigation, apprehension and arrest of five persons who allegedly submitted fraudulent Grade 12 certificates when applying for constable posts advertised during 2021/’22.

“The case was referred to the provincial anti-corruption unit which led to their arrest.

“The SAPS in the Northern Cape has issued a stern warning to the public, that the police will not tolerate such dishonest actions when it comes to applying for employment in the organisation. They must be assured that all documents submitted will be scrutinised and the police will not hesitate to enforce the law,” Gamieldien added.
