Police hunt suspects after armed robbery at clothing store

The police are investigating a business robbery after armed robbers hit a clothing store near the Craven Street taxi rank.

THE POLICE are investigating a business robbery after armed robbers entered a clothing store near the Craven Street taxi rank and threatened staff and customers at gunpoint on Friday at around 5pm.

Staff and customers were instructed to lie face down on the floor during the incident.

Kimberley police spokesperson Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane said that two unknown men entered the store and demanded money

“One of the suspects was armed with a firearm. The suspects allegedly took off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a mobile cellphone valued at R1,000,” said Gopane.

She indicated that no injuries were reported and no arrests have been made yet.

“The police are requesting the assistance of the public who can help with information regarding the incident. Anyone with information can contact the SAPS emergency number 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app. All information will be treated confidentially. Police investigations are continuing,” Gopane added.
