THE NORTHERN Cape police, in partnership with the provincial Department of Transport, Safety and Liaison, the Roodepan SAPS Social Crime Prevention, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Love Life domestic violence co-ordinator and Women Against Crime, held an awareness campaign in Roodepan as part of their Safer Festive Season programme.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said the team conducted door-to-door visits on Wednesday to raise awareness and gave tips to community members on how to stay safe this season.

“Large crowds of community members were addressed by the members. The community members were also supplied with safety tip pamphlets. The Roodepan acting station commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Pieter Jansen, appreciated all role-players and stated that continued programmes of this nature would be conducted in an effort to root out crime in our communities. The communities were also urged to become the ears and eyes of law enforcement agencies in order to combat and prevent criminal activities in the community,” Kock said.
