Police arrest man for woman’s murder

“The motive behind the murder is not known at this stage. Police investigations continue”

A 21-YEAR-old man was arrested by the Mothibistad police after he allegedly murdered a 59-year-old woman during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba, said that the elderly woman was stabbed to death.

“It is alleged that in the early hours of Thursday, November 7, 2019, the suspect forced entry into the house of the victim and stabbed her to death. The incident happened in Seoding village.

“The victim’s neighbours heard noises and sounds of a scuffle coming from the victim’s house. The suspect fled the scene as the neighbours went to investigate. He was later apprehended by community members who held him inside the community hall at Seoding village and handed him over to the police.

“The motive behind the murder is not known at this stage. Police investigations continue,” said Ramatseba, adding that the suspect will appear in court soon.
