THE GALESHEWE police are investigating a culpable homicide case following the death of a 46-year-old pedestrian in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday.

SAPS provincial spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the deceased reportedly attempted to cross Barkly Road in Santa Centre when he was fatally struck by a motor vehicle that witnesses described as a white or beige Mercedes-Benz.

“He died on the scene. Anyone with information can contact Detective Sergeant Chrisna Von Wielligh on 082 469 0547. The investigation continues,” said Kock.

Community member Shaine Griqua called on authorities to implement measures to prevent accidents on Barkly Road, such as constructing speed bumps.

“Too many people have already died on this road,” he said.
