Pampierstad couple hacked to death

THE BODIES of a Pampierstad couple were discovered in the veld on Thursday.

It is believed that the husband and wife were hacked to death with a sharp instrument.

According to community members, the bodies of a local teacher and her husband, a retired miner, were dumped in the veld, while the suspect is still on the run.

The murders were reportedly committed at their home.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi on Friday confirmed that the police are investigating a case of murder after the two bodies were discovered in Pampierstad.

“The bodies, believed to be of a husband and wife, were discovered in the veld on Thursday morning at about 8am by a passer-by,” said Mooi.

She added that the circumstances surrounding the murders were unknown and were currently under investigation by the police.

“The police are still looking for the suspect. Anyone who may have information about this incident is requested to contact Lieutenant-Colonel Myburgh on 082 494 4585. All information received will be treated as strictly confidential.”
